Founding Partner
Anjali Dayal
Anji is a Founding Partner of McBreen, Kopko & Dayal LLP. Anji has devoted her entire career to representing and defending the health care community. She has represented physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers in catastrophic medical malpractice cases. She has successfully defended health care practitioners and institutions in all phases of litigation, in motion practice, at multiple trials and before the Illinois Court of Appeals and the Illinois Supreme Court. Anji was honored with the 2019 Trial Lawyers Award of Excellence by the Jury Verdict Reporter. She has also been selected as a Leading Lawyer by her Peers.
Anji's practice also involves representation of care management collaborations, accountable care and physician hospital organizations and the defense of health care organizations in billing and financial matters. She also represents physicians and health care providers before the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and in privileging and credentialing matters. Anji has also served as pro bono counsel for health care institutions on matters involving the Health Care Surrogate Act, withholding and withdrawing life support and protection of children in neglect and abuse matters.
Anji graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 1992. She received a Bachelor of Arts from University of Chicago in 1988. Anji is a member of the Illinois Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois since 1992.

Frederick H. Kopko, Jr.
Frederick H. Kopko, Jr., is a Founding Partner of McBreen, Kopko & Dayal LLP. Fred recognized the importance of providing the health care industry with a dedicated defense law firm. He collaborated with Hugh McBreen and Anji Dayal to form a practice in service of the heath care community. Fred practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, commodities, and corporate law and serves on the boards of a number of publicly traded companies.
A 1977 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Connecticut, Mr. Kopko received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1980 and an M.B.A., with high honors, from the University of Chicago in 1995. He was an Associate Editor of the Notre Dame Law Review and has authored a number of papers dealing with securities law.

Hugh G. McBreen
Hugh G. McBreen is a Founding Partner of McBreen, Kopko & Dayal LLP. Hugh recognized the significance of a boutique defense firm dedicated to the representation of the health care community, particularly in light of his over 35-year practice in trial and appellate litigation. In addition to his extensive litigation practice, Hugh is dedicated to representing and supporting the health care industry.
Hugh is a 1977 cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College and he received a J.D. in 1980 from the University of Notre Dame. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois and before the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
